What are Overuse Injuries?
Overuse injuries occur when repetitive movements strain muscles, tendons, or joints. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders affect up to 25% of employees annually (Punnett & Wegman, 2004). Common examples include tennis elbow, rotator cuff tendinopathy, and repetitive strain injury (RSI).
Common Causes
- Repetitive tasks such as typing or lifting.
- Poor posture or ergonomics.
- Insufficient rest or recovery.
- Muscle imbalances or weakness.
Treatment Options
Treatment at WCCC focuses on reducing inflammation, restoring movement, and preventing recurrence:
- Chiropractic adjustments to correct joint mechanics.
- Myotherapy and remedial massage to release soft tissue tension.
- Exercise programs to strengthen and balance muscles.
- Ergonomic and lifestyle guidance to reduce strain.
