What are Headaches?

Headaches can be tension-type, cervicogenic, or migraine in origin. Tension-type headaches affect nearly 40% of adults annually (Stovner et al., 2007). Cervicogenic headaches are often linked to cervical joint dysfunction or poor posture.

Common Causes

  • Muscle tension in neck, shoulders, or upper back.
  • Cervical joint dysfunction, reducing neck mobility.
  • Poor posture, especially forward head posture.
  • Stress and fatigue leading to muscular tightness.
  • Less common vascular or neurological conditions require medical evaluation.

Treatment Options

Treatment at WCCC can reduce headache frequency and intensity through:

  • Cervical spinal adjustments (Biondi, 2005).
  • Soft tissue release and trigger point therapy.
  • Postural correction and ergonomic guidance.
  • Stretching and strengthening programs for neck and upper back muscles.
